The Weaving
The weaving process, involves the weft (left to right) thread, wrapped around a “shuttle”, going over and under the warp (top to bottom) threads.

The Taffeta weave we use has up to 28 stitches per cm and your bookmarks and greetings cards have as many as 1200 stitches.

Up to three different coloured threads combine to give you the unique colourful tapestry that characterises a Weve-a-Gift product.

Mini cards and fridge magnets have up to 1500 stitches using 6,750 mm (over 22 feet) of yarn. The sides are heat sealed on the Rapier looms to ensure the stitching won’t come undone.

Trimming
The weave is then “pinked” to the correct length making a zig zag edge that will not easily fray, and gives a much more attractive finish. Now they are sorted by hand ready for laminating.

Laminating
This process allows you to feel the stitches on the front and see the fibres on the back through the clear laminate so you can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into the weaving. However the back is sealed so it doesn’t fall apart.

Our equipment laminates at 243ºF at 3200lbs per square inch (psi) before cooling down at 3300psi on another press.

Hand finishing
Next your bookmark or mini card is cut to shape. A colour co-ordinated envelope is supplied with all mini cards. The bookmark has a hole made for the tassel which are all colour coordinated and put in by hand.

Cards
The laminated labels for the “Cards to Keep” greeting cards are mounted by hand in a heavy ivory board with a Metallic Gold or Silver Celtic Chain border. All the board used is from sustainable British forests.

The card and colour coordinated envelope are packaged in a crystal cellophane bag so your customers can see and feel the stitching without soiling your stock.

Fridge Magnets
Your fridge magnets use woven labels in a flexible magnetic frame decorated with colour coordinated artwork. A message label is fixed to the back, which not only allows it to be personalised, it also helps stop the magnet scratching anything.

Keyrings
With upto 900 stitches per piece Weve-a-Gift woven keyrings are unique. Encased in a convex crystal case the bright designs jump out at you.
Your keyrings are mounted on a gift card that allows you to personalise your gift.
